TaylorMade Stealth 2 Drivers: A New Level of Forgiveness and Performance

TaylorMade has always been at the forefront of golf technology, continuously developing new equipment that can help golfers take their game to the next level. The latest addition to their line-up is the TaylorMade Stealth 2 drivers, which offer a new level of forgiveness and performance to golfers of all skill levels.

The TaylorMade Stealth 2 drivers are a bold step forward in golf club technology, featuring fully carbon composite constructions that focus on improving mis-hits. One of the standout features of the Stealth 2 drivers is the new variable thickness carbon composite face. This face is designed to offer improved ball speeds for off-center hits, helping golfers to maintain distance even on shots that miss the center of the face.

Additionally, there is even less titanium in the body of the Stealth 2 drivers, which frees up more mass to add more stability over last year’s models. The trio includes the low-spin Stealth 2 Plus, the neutral flight high-forgiveness option Stealth 2, and the most stable model of the three, the draw-biased weighting Stealth 2 HD, which helps golfers fight the slice.

The new carbon composite face of the Stealth 2 drivers is constructed by 60 distinct layers of carbon fiber that are arranged to provide a more flexible perimeter with thinner sections around the center thicker region. The perimeter areas are even thinner than last year’s models, which means they are more flexible, leading to more consistent ball speed all across the face.

According to Tomo Bystedt, TaylorMade’s senior director of product creation for woods, “That evens out the speed profile of the face because obviously the heel is going to tend to be slower because you have a little bit shorter span in the heel. So this really maximizes the hottest area of the face.”

Another improvement in the Stealth 2 drivers is a new body construction that has reduced the non-carbon sections to almost none, freeing up more mass that can be used in different ways in each of the three models. The carbon composite crown and sole sections are now bonded to a carbon-reinforced composite ring, making it even lighter and allowing for a fully carbon composite sole to replace the titanium sole plate.

This change in construction allows more mass to be precisely positioned. On the Stealth 2 Plus, the sliding weight is now 15 grams instead of 10, helping to increase the low forward center of gravity position. More mass can also go into the weight at the rear base of the driver, which TaylorMade calls the “inertia generator.” It sits low in a keel at the back end of the driver to maximize off-center hit stability. On the Stealth 2, the rear weight is now 25 grams, and it’s some 30 grams on the high-forgiveness Stealth 2 HD.

Each of the Stealth 2 drivers targets distinct audiences. The movable weight on the Stealth 2 Plus is more substantial, making it ideal for players who contact the center of the face more often. As the lowest spin offering, higher swing speed players will see more benefits from this model vs. the others. The Stealth 2 offers the most ideal mix of forgiveness, launch, and spin for most non-elite players. Meanwhile, the Stealth 2 HD is the highest-launching and most forgiving of the three drivers, with its rear weight repositioned more toward the heel to target the slice.

In conclusion, the TaylorMade Stealth 2 drivers are an excellent addition to TaylorMade’s line-up, offering golfers a new level of forgiveness and performance. With their fully carbon composite construction, variable thickness carbon composite face, and new body construction, they are sure to help golfers of all skill levels improve their game.
